Not much training has taken place since my last update just over a week ago. Here it is anyway:
Monday 22nd July - 8 mile bike ride & a 5 mile run
Sunday 28th July - 30 mile bike ride.
Monday 29th July - 3 mile run
Wednesday 31st July - 850 m open water swim
Also got my bike serviced by someone who knows what they are doing, just in case.
My gear is now packed & myself and the family will be heading up to Bolton tomorrow morning about 8am. To reduce the stress of getting everything done my plan for how the weekend will go is as follows:
Friday - Arrive Bolton 1pm & register Arleya at Bolton shopping centre for the Saturday Ironkids race
Check into the hotel at 3pm, they are bike friendly so my bike can stay in the room on the Friday
For to Reebok stadium around 4pm to register & attend the race briefing.
Pack the transition bags ready to drop off in the morning.
Saturday - Arleya is racing at 8.30am so we will head into the town centre to watch that.
2pm - drive down to the start at Pennington Flash with Tim to put our bikes & blue transition bag at T1
Once we have set up we will drive the bike course to see that to expect 7 also drop off our red transition bag at T2 in Rivingdon & Blackrod high school.
6.30pm back to Reebok for Ironprayer, i need all the help i can get & more snouting round the expo.
Sunday - Up around 3.30am. So i can get some food into me & drive up to the Reebok stadium for the shuttle bus down to the start line. The rest of Sundays plan is a bit grey but will involve a long swim bike and run.
Monday - Drive to Rivingdon to pick up my bike etc, then over to the expo again to grab some finisher souvenirs (hopefully) Drive back to Norwich, collapse on the sofa and sleep.
Despite everything i am feeling confident in doing this, although too much thinking knots up my stomach & makes it all feel a bit daunting.
